Football Recap: Vista Murrieta Finds Playoff Glory Versus Damien + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Vista Murrieta had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past the Damien Spartans with a 36-31 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Broncos considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

Aiden Williams had a dynamite game, rushing for 233 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 233 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Zachary Aleman also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Vista Murrieta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Vista Murrieta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nemirah Davidson and Amari Delk. Delk has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times he's played. Davidson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the defeat, Damien had strong showings from Isaiah Arriaza, who threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns, and Travon Garrison Jr, who picked up 155 receiving yards and three scores. With that strong performance, Garrison Jr is now averaging an impressive 101.1 receiving yards per game.

Vista Murrieta is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.8 points over those games. As for Damien, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Vista Murrieta has already played their next game, a 32-7 defeat against San Clemente on the 14th. Damien does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
