Softball Game Preview: Carl Albert Titans vs. Elgin Owls

The Carl Albert Titans will face off against the Elgin Owls at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Carl Albert 3.3, Elgin 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Carl Albert took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Norman a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since September 12th.

Not much got past Kynlee Sutton, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Norman off the board. Sutton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bailey Rusche was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

Meanwhile, Elgin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Enid by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Owls have suffered since September 9th.

Kynli Garrett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Carl Albert pushed their record up to 21-10 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-10.

Carl Albert beat Elgin 6-1 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
