Football Recap: Mountainside Comes Up Short on the Road Against Antelope + How To Watch

Mountainside had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 25-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Antelope Rams on Friday. The Wolves gained 183 more yards on the day, but it was the Rams that made the best use of them.

Even if they lost, Mountainside's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Andrew Watkins and Malachai Morales, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.

Antelope's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trane Figueroa led the charge by throwing for 210 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Figueroa didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Antelope's leading receiver Ozzy Martin was Figueroa's top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and one score.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountainside will venture away from home to challenge NFL Yet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Antelope, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Glendale Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Rams their first taste of in-conference action this season.
