Baseball Game Preview: Gatewood Gators vs. Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors

For the second straight game, Gatewood will face off against Southwest Georgia Academy. The Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Gatewood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Gatewood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Southwest Georgia Academy with a sharp 8-1 win.

Wilson Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on zero hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Walker Roberts was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Ames Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Gatewood lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.

Gatewood pushed their record up to 25-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Georgia Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 25-4.
