Softball Recap: Parkway North Vikings vs. St. Joseph's Academy Angels
Parkway North extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They lost 13-0 to the St. Joseph's Academy Angels. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 10-9 to the Angels when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for St. Joseph's Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-6. The result was nothing new for the Angels, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
For St. Joseph's Academy's part, Julie Origliasso made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Origliasso has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Alana Malone was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Sara Munaco was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Coming up, Parkway North will square off against Fort Zumwalt North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Joseph's Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Maplewood-Richmond Heights at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
