Richland takes loss despite strong efforts from Lanie Marshall and Sasha Garnett

Recap: Richland Rams vs. Bishop McCort Crushers

The Richland Rams were the 66-58 winner over the Bishop McCort Crushers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Richland took a 69-51 bruising from Bishop McCort on Monday. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Bishop McCort is ranked 18th).

Richland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sasha Garnett, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Lanie Marshall who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Garnett's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Trinity Macey, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Gianna Gallucci continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bishop McCort, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. Gallucci hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. Cami Beppler was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.

Richland has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Bishop McCort, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Richland on the road again on Thursday and play against Bishop Carroll at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th. Bishop Carroll knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Richland likes a good challenge. As for Bishop McCort, they will be playing at home against Westmont Hilltop at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westmont Hilltop will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
