The Veterans Memorial Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Los Fresnos Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Veterans Memorial took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 win over Hanna. Considering the Chargers have won six matchups by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Veterans Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cesar Belmontes, who rushed for 127 yards and three scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. The Chargers also got a significant boost from Jake Saenz, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Veterans Memorial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 382 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Veterans Memorial didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Victor Olvera and Diego Benavides.
Meanwhile, Los Fresnos strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took down San Benito 42-25.
Veterans Memorial better keep an eye on Robert Pineda. He was instrumental in Los Fresnos' win, throwing for 253 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 65 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Pineda racked up 154.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Enrique Guerra was Pineda's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and one score.
Veterans Memorial's record is now 7-1. As for Los Fresnos, their record now sits at 7-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Veterans Memorial has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 327.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Los Fresnos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 220.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Veterans Memorial couldn't quite finish off Los Fresnos in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 24-21. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
