Baseball Recap: Tivy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Fort Bend Elkins

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tivy). They came out on top against the Fort Bend Elkins Knights by a score of 7-3 on Friday.

Will Russ looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Robert Johnson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Sam Barber also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Tivy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Tivy's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Tivy will head out on the road to take on Jordan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cinco Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
