Basketball Recap: Aniya Felder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hoover over La Jolla

Hoover lost against La Jolla back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hoover Cardinals took a 53-36 bruising from the La Jolla Vikings. The match marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Hoover's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniya Felder, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myesha Frank, who earned ten points.

La Jolla got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reagan Bennett out in front who went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Those six assists gave Bennett a new career-high. Elena Farrar was another key player, going 7-for-9 on her way to 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Hoover and nudges their season record down to 13-13. As for La Jolla, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-9.

Hoover has already played their next contest, a 53-29 victory against Academy of Our Lady of Peace on the 13th. As for La Jolla, they will look to defend their home court on February 19th against El Camino at 7:00 p.m. La Jolla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
