Softball Game Preview: Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs vs. Carlisle Wildcats

The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Carlisle Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Dallas Center-Grimes knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Carlisle likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Dallas Center-Grimes made easy work of Indianola and carried off a 14-4 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Carlisle was able to grind out a solid victory over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Saturday, taking the game 7-2.

Carlisle has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dallas Center-Grimes, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-2.

Dallas Center-Grimes couldn't quite finish off Carlisle when the teams last played back in July of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
