Soccer Game Preview: Central Catholic vs. Downey

The Central Catholic Raiders and the Downey Knights will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Central Catholic's last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Central Catholic saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of Enochs by a score of 2-1. The Raiders have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Central Catholic's goal came courtesy of Avery Jones, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Downey was forced to settle for a draw. They and Kimball finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.

Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. With that draw, Downey's record moves to 4-3-1.

Central Catholic came up short against Downey in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 2-0. Can Central Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
