Football Game Preview: Cromwell Cardinals vs. Verndale Pirates

The Cromwell Cardinals will face off against the Verndale Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Verndale will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Cromwell extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Cardinals breezed past Carlton/Wrenshall to the tune of 55-13. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Cromwell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Aaron Korpela, Del Nyberg, Lane Gervais, and Ryden Olesiak picked up one apiece. Korpela is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last six games he's played.

Meanwhile, Verndale didn't have quite enough to beat Sebeka on Friday and fell 36-34. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Verndale now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Cromwell, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
