Crest Ridge extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-12. They came up short against the Sweet Springs Greyhounds, falling 14-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Crest Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Dresel, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Jackson Hoppenthaler, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Sweet Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Sweet Springs' side, Drayton Hampton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Hampton has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Sweet Springs is 4-1 when Hampton posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Gabe Benson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Levi Frost was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Crest Ridge is taking a road trip to face off against Wellington-Napoleon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sweet Springs, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Slater at 5:00 p.m. on May 1.
