Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Liberty

The Piedmont Highlanders will square off against the Liberty Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Piedmont fell victim to Berkeley and their airtight defense on Friday. They fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Liberty entered their tilt with Freedom on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Falcons onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Falcons are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Liberty's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three games. As for Piedmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7-2 record this season.
