Softball Game Preview: Glendale Prep Academy Griffins vs. Highland Prep West HORNETS

Glendale Prep Academy is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Highland Prep West a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins will welcome the Highland Prep West HORNETS at 3:45 p.m. Glendale Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.

Glendale Prep Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Tempe Prep, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Griffins' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 23-0 shutout on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Griffins as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Raegan Rockey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ally Moore was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Whipple, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Glendale Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Highland Prep West's offense. They came up short against Mohave Accelerated on Friday, falling 23-0.

The victory got Glendale Prep Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Highland Prep West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
