Basketball Game Preview: Palm Springs Indians vs. Redlands East Valley Wildcats

The Palm Springs Indians and the Redlands East Valley Wildcats will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Palm Springs' defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Redlands East Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Palm Springs saw some tournament action on Saturday. They strolled past Desert Hot Springs with points to spare, taking the game 46-29. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 932nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eiresslee Wells, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Wells a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Shayla Bates, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley hadn't done well against Yucca Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Redlands East Valley blew past Yucca Valley, posting a 51-24 win.

Palm Springs is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Redlands East Valley, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Palm Springs suffered a grim 49-26 defeat to Redlands East Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Palm Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
