Football Recap: Zander Stern Key Part of Team Effort in Spartans Win

Montour won the last time they faced Blackhawk and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans blew past the Cougars 28-7. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Spartans just coasted through the last quarter.

Montour's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zander Stern, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Stern showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 60 yards. Caden Halajcio also helped with two TDs in total.

Montour has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.3 points over those games. As for Blackhawk, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Montour will square off against New Castle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes' defense has only allowed 7.2 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Blackhawk, they will face off against Ambridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Bridgers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
