Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Troubadours vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles

The St. Francis Troubadours will head out to square off against the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Francis has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Del Oro will arrive with five straight wins.

On Friday, St. Francis ended up a good deal behind Lincoln and lost 68-52. While losing is never fun, the Troubadours can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Trojans are ranked 69th).

Despite the loss, St. Francis had strong showings from Tayli Paeu-Lindgren, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 boards, and Sydney Teoh, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. What's more, Paeu-Lindgren also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Annie Swanson was another key player, putting up two points.

Even though they lost, St. Francis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Del Oro on Friday. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 58-46.

Del Oro is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for St. Francis, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

St. Francis lost to Del Oro on the road by a decisive 60-46 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for St. Francis, Shaelyn Parry (who went 11 of 19 on her way to 25 points and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
