Softball Game Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Mead Mavericks

The Fairview Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Mead Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairview has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fairview's last matchup with Loveland could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Saturday. The Knights came up short against the Red Wolves, falling 12-5. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Payton Cowin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Campbell Owens, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mead lost 16-6 to Pueblo West on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Cyclones: they've now lost three in a row.

Mead now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Fairview couldn't quite get it done against Mead in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
