Baseball Recap: Mayfield Comes Up Short

Mayfield was the 3-2 winner over Shaker Heights when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mayfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Locker, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Mayfield's record now sits at 11-14. As for Shaker Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Mayfield will take on University School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shaker Heights, they will square off against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Royals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
