2024 Olympics: State-by-state look at where every USA Basketball Women's Olympian went to high school since 1976

California leads the way with 11 selections including Lisa Leslie, Sabrina Ionescu and Diana Taurasi.

Since women's basketball first took the world stage at the 1976 Olympics, 87 players have represented the United States.

California leads the way with 11 players over the past 48 years including some of the greatest Olympians the United States has ever seen in Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie, Sabrina Ionescu, Tina Thompson and Diana Taurasi.

Taurasi, who hails from Don Lugo (Chino), is in pursuit of her sixth gold medal, the most of any men's or women's player.

Illinois and Texas are tied for second with seven selections apiece. Illinois lays claim to Yolanda Griffith and Candace Parker while Texas has legends Tamika Catchings, Brittney Griner and Sheryl Swoopes.

Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.) is the only high school in history to have three Olympians and all of them – Sue Bird, Tina Charles and Chamique Holdsclaw – are WNBA legends.

USA opens the Olympics on Sunday in the group stage against Japan.
