Lathrop got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shakara Porter out in front who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and four steals. Porter has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Belinda Renteria, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.
Lathrop smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Valley only pulled down ten offensive boards.
Central Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marion Dennison, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Dennison a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julyanna Valencia, who put up seven points.
The victory got Lathrop back to even at 10-10. As for Central Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
