Baseball Recap: Creekside Starts off Right with Win over KIPP Atlanta Collegiate

Creekside gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against the KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Warriors as the Creekside Seminoles made off with a 16-2 victory.

TAKEEVIUS THORTON made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. THORTON was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, MAKHI WOODHOUSE was a standout: he scored four runs and stole six bases while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Tobias Stephens was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Creekside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as KIPP Atlanta Collegiate only posted an OBP of .263.

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Creekside will host Banneker at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, they will challenge Mt. Zion at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
