Softball Recap: Norris Comes Up Short

Norris dropped down to 15-8 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hastings Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Reese Behrends was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Behrends was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Hastings, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Hastings' side, ELLA TINSMAN spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 21 Ks. TINSMAN has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hastings' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was HADYN LAUX, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Norris will be playing at home against Bennington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hastings, they will face off against Gretna East at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Griffins' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
