Softball Recap: New Franklin Comes Up Short

New Franklin suffered their biggest loss since September 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 18-3 to Jamestown. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jamestown apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lily Chitwood was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Chitwood is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Canna Jennings, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for New Franklin and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Jamestown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. New Franklin will take on Westran at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jamestown, they will venture away from home to face off against South Callaway at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
