Basketball Recap: Alameda's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Alameda's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They strolled past the Encinal Jets with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Jets are ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Encinal lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Haley Huynh, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and three steals. Isabelle Lu also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first board of the season.

Alameda's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Encinal, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Alameda didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-35 win against Castro Valley on the 14th. As for Encinal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-24 victory against Arroyo on the 15th.
