Softball Game Preview: Monett Cubs vs. Branson Pirates

The Monett Cubs will head out to square off against the Branson Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Monett didn't have quite enough to beat Joplin and fell 2-1. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monett saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Velten, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, while Branson put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for West Plains. The Pirates blew past the Zizzers 10-0. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Monett's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Branson, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Monett skirted past Branson 4-2 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
