Basketball Recap: Greater Beckley Christian Starts off Right with Win over Chapmanville Regional

Greater Beckley Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past the Chapmanville Regional Tigers with a 73-68 victory. This was payback for the Crusaders, who suffered an 80-76 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Greater Beckley Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Gunter, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Gunter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Iziah Gordon, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 25 points.

Looking ahead, Greater Beckley Christian will head out on the road to take on Capital at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chapmanville Regional, they will be home for the holidays to greet Wesley Christian on the 19th.
