Basketball Recap: Hillel Academy Comes Up Short

Hillel Academy was the 19-13 winner over Neighborhood Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hillel Academy Heat fell just short of Neighborhood Academy by a score of 23-20 on Monday. One positive for the Heat, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Neighborhood Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nevaeh Jefferson out in front who posted nine points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Jefferson a new career-high in blocks (two). Jyniah Knight also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Hillel Academy dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Neighborhood Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.

Hillel Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Neighborhood Academy, they will be playing at home against Propel Montour at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neighborhood Academy is facing Propel Montour at the right time seeing as Propel Montour is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
