Preview: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. Santa Fe Christian Eagles
The Canyon Crest Academy Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Canyon Crest Academy, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, everything went Canyon Crest Academy's way against San Pasqual as Canyon Crest Academy made off with a 44-23 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-6.
Canyon Crest Academy found their leader in underclassman Elena Colon, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Dysart, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Santa Fe Christian, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They were beaten by Carlsbad 81-40 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Santa Fe Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 899th, while Carlsbad is ranked 77th).
Piper Lenihan put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Santa Fe Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Canyon Crest Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Santa Fe Christian, their loss was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Canyon Crest Academy was taken down by Santa Fe Christian 53-21 when the teams last played back in January. Can Canyon Crest Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
