Crespi extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 8-0. They took down the Salesian Mustangs 31-16. The 31-point effort marked the Celts' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Crespi was led to victory by Jaden Ayala and Blue McFarland. Ayala rushed for 109 yards and one score on only ten carries, while McFarland picked up 32 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 109 rushing yards gave Ayala a new career-high.

Crespi's run defense was locked in: Salesian could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank James Moffat for the heroic effort on defense: he. Crespi didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Crespi's defense didn't let Donovan Shirley, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Somto Nwude was the leader with three. He has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Crespi received some extra help from Daniel Tobar, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

As for Salesian, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. They were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Salesian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shirley, who threw for 293 yards and a pair of TDs.

Crespi and Salesian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Celts will challenge Harvard-Westlake at 8:00 p.m. on the 25th with a big rank advantage (217 vs. 527). Meanwhile, Salesian (ranked 162nd) will meet St. Anthony (ranked 484th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
