Softball Game Preview: Pensacola Catholic Crusaders vs. Pensacola Tigers

Pensacola Catholic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pensacola recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pensacola Catholic has three straight wins, Pensacola has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Pensacola Catholic made easy work of Booker T. Washington and carried off a 23-12 victory.

Morgan Smith was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lela Laurence was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Meanwhile, Pensacola fell victim to Rocky Bayou Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 16-0 to the Knights.

Pensacola saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reigna Robinson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Pensacola Catholic's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Pensacola, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything went Pensacola Catholic's way against Pensacola when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Pensacola Catholic made off with a 21-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
