Preview: Redwood Christian Eagles vs. Head-Royce Jayhawks

Redwood Christian is 2-8 against Head-Royce since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Redwood Christian Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Head-Royce Jayhawks at 3:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Redwood Christian sitting on three straight wins and Head-Royce on seven.

Redwood Christian put the finishing touches on their 16th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 73-14 victory over Bentley at home. With Redwood Christian ahead 52-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Nia Rogers was her usual excellent self, scoring 51 points along with eight assists and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chisom Nwebube, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Head-Royce walked away with it. They took down the Cougars 43-29 on Thursday. Given Head-Royce's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while College Prep is ranked 1166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Redwood Christian's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.4 points. As for Head-Royce, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Redwood Christian was dealt a bruising 63-32 loss at the hands of Head-Royce in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can Redwood Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
