Baseball Recap: Dutchtown Comes Up Short

Dutchtown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lovejoy Wildcats. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Trejean Webb put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Webb was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Devin Kendall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Dutchtown is 2-1 when Kendall posts two or more runs, but 3-14 otherwise. Logan Leonard was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Dutchtown's record now sits at 5-15. As for Lovejoy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-9-1.

While Dutchtown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
