Basketball Game Preview: Christian Patriots vs. Mission Vista

The Christian Patriots will square off against Mission Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Christian sitting on 15 straight wins and Mission Vista on six.

Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Canyon Crest Academy 74-26. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Christian relied on the efforts of Leah Speers, who posted 30 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds, and Maepon Johnson, who put up 23 points along with six boards and four steals. Speers' evening made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Weckback, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mission Vista earned a 56-49 victory over Santa Fe Christian on Wednesday.

Christian pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points over those games. As for Mission Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 14-12.

Everything went Christian's way against Mission Vista when the teams last played back in February of 2018, as Christian made off with a 63-39 win. Does Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mission Vista turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
