Basketball Game Preview: Glendale Vikings vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates

Glendale hasn't had much luck against Williamsburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Glendale Vikings will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Glendale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Curwensville 58-32 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Vikings have posted since January 25th.

Glendale can attribute much of their success to Brielle Mcmillen, who posted 23 points, and Madison Peterson, who put up 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Peterson has scored at least a third of Glendale's points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Leiden, who had six points.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg entered their tilt with Moshannon Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 69-19 win over the Black Knights/Damsels. Given the Blue Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Black Knights/Damsels are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glendale's record is now 3-4. As for Williamsburg, their record is now 6-1.

Glendale was dealt a bruising 60-15 defeat at the hands of Williamsburg when the teams last played back in February. Can Glendale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
