After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pleasant Grove, Monterey Trail was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Elk Grove Thundering Herd a 2-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in January.

Jada Pinkney and Arianna Ramirez-Cortez scored both of Monterey Trail's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Monterey Trail's victory bumped their record up to 11-9-4. As for Elk Grove, they dropped their record down to 1-13-3 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Monterey Trail will take on Rio Linda at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Elk Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
