Baseball Recap: Augusta E Wins Going Away Against Briarwood Academy

Augusta E never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Buccaneers last Thursday, they had to take a 6-2 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Josh Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Augusta E is undefeated when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Luke Reese was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Augusta E always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Briarwood Academy only posted an OBP of .267.

Augusta E is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Briarwood Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Augusta E will venture away from home to challenge Providence Athletic Club at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Briarwood Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Northside Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
