Soccer Game Preview: River Ridge vs. Northwest Whitfield

River Ridge has won five straight games at home, while Northwest Whitfield has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Knights will host the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in River Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last four matchups.

River Ridge's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over West Forsyth. River Ridge's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six contests.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Northwest Whitfield was not quite Dalton's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to the Catamounts. While losing is never fun, Northwest Whitfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Dalton are ranked second).

River Ridge's win bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Northwest Whitfield, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.

River Ridge took their victory against Northwest Whitfield in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
