Basketball Recap: Central Valley Christian Cavaliers vs. Reedley Pirates
The Central Valley Christian Cavaliers managed to keep up with the Reedley Pirates until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Central Valley Christian suffered a tough 62-40 defeat at the hands of the Pirates. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Valley Christian in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Central Valley Christian saw an underclassman step up: Ally Lane dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Hiemstra, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Central Valley Christian dropped their record down to 8-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Reedley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Valley Christian will square off against the Monarchs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Exeter is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Reedley, they will head out on the road to take on the Golden Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sierra Pacific's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
