Soccer Recap: Irwin County Comes Up Short

Irwin County lost against Fitzgerald back in April of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Indians came up short against the Purple Hurricane, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, Irwin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 409th, while Fitzgerald are ranked 199th).

Irwin County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fitzgerald, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Irwin County will be playing at home against Worth County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Irwin County will be up against Worth County's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.69 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Fitzgerald, they are taking a road trip to square off against Colquitt County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
