Soccer Recap: Monte Vista Gets the Win

Monte Vista's game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Calexico Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Monarchs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Marely Velazquez was the driving force of Monte Vista's attack as she scored both of Monte Vista's goals, bringing her season total up to seven goals.

Monte Vista's record is now 2-3-2. As for Calexico, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Vista will venture away from home to square off against Grossmont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calexico, they will head out to face off against Southwest EC at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calexico is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.
