Softball Recap: Holy Family Comes Up Short

Holy Family fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Valor Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Emmaline Humphreys spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 18 Ks.

At the plate, Holy Family saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Turney, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Holy Family's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Valor Christian, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Holy Family will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Horizon at 3:30 p.m. on the 26th. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Valor Christian, they have already played their next match, a 10-0 win against Denver South on the 19th.
