Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Braves vs. Portola Tigers

The Hamilton Braves are taking a road trip to face off against the Portola Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton will be strutting in after a victory while Portola will be coming in after a defeat.

Hamilton will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 18 points on Saturday, then bounced right back against Williams on Tuesday. Hamilton claimed a resounding 56-23 win over Williams. The Braves pushed the score to 54-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellowjackets cut but never quite recovered from.

Ally Odom and Isabella Lozano were among the main playmakers for Hamilton as the former went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds and the latter went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Odom a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Isabel Rivera, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Portola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 53-42 to Biggs.

Portola's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Hamilton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14.

Hamilton couldn't quite finish off Portola in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 48-46. Can Hamilton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
