Preview: Xavier Prep Saints vs. Rancho Mirage Rattlers

Given Xavier Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Palm Desert is ranked 579th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grace Thomsen was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Tiffany Chang was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
Rancho Mirage suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Palm Springs, falling 42-12. Rancho Mirage was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-4.
Xavier Prep has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Rancho Mirage, their loss was their 16th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-16.
Everything came up roses for Xavier Prep against Rancho Mirage in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 60-13 victory. With Xavier Prep ahead 35-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
