Basketball Recap: Charleroi Comes Up Short

Charleroi was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 44-26 fall against the Waynesburg Central Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-33 back in January.

Peyton Cowell had a dynamite game for Waynesburg Central, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 17 boards. Cowell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Briena Coon, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Charleroi's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Waynesburg Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Charleroi does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waynesburg Central, they will take on California at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. California will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Waynesburg Central surely won't give up without a fight.
