Baseball Recap: Scholars Guild Academy Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Scholars Guild Academy dropped their record down to 18-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints by a score of 2-1. The Spartans were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the nine matchups prior), but the Saints' pitchers proved too tough.

Scholars Guild Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Kenny, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Kenny's first of the season. Justin Whitfield was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, their record is now 5-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 13th.

On Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's side, Parker Henderson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Henderson was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Scholars Guild Academy and Johnson Ferry Christian Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Spartans will challenge Cornerstone Prep Academy on Friday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.93 runs per game on average), something Scholars Guild Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, they will square off against North Georgia HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
