Football Recap: Monsignor Farrell Takes Down Ranked St. Anthony's

Monsignor Farrell faced St. Anthony in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Lions made off with a 21-20 victory over the Friars. Surprisingly, this marked the Lions' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Kevin Gumb Jr produced another solid performance rushing for 170 yards and a pair of scores. Bryce Moye was another key player, rushing for 74 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monsignor Farrell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Several Friars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Bala, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Monsignor Farrell has already played their next matchup, a 42-14 win against Fordham Prep on the 3rd. As for St. Anthony's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 50-36 loss against Iona Prep on the 3rd.
