Football Recap: Hamilton Township Piles Up the Points Against Independence

It's playoff time, and Hamilton Township had no trouble coming through when it counted. They breezed past the Independence 76ers to the tune of 40-12 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won six matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hamilton Township's defense and their three sacks. Dezmond Branch was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Hamilton Township got some further help from Jaymir Reed: he forced one fumble and made 17 total tackles.

Defeat or not, Independence got some senior leadership from Gabriel Ogbara and Darren White-Tyler. Ogbara rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown, while White-Tyler gained 120 total yards and a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Hamilton Township and bumps their season record up to 9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 19 points in those games. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Hamilton Township will venture away from home to challenge Tri-Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will need to watch out since the Scotties have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
