Basketball Game Preview: Monte Vista Mustangs vs. Dublin Gaels

The Monte Vista Mustangs will challenge the Dublin Gaels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dublin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Monte Vista, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Monte Vista beat Foothill 59-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Monte Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Whyte out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Whyte a new career-high in points. Naliyah Sefidi was another key player, putting up 19 points along with seven assists and six steals.

Monte Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Dublin has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a blow against Carondelet on Tuesday, falling 80-35. The Gaels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.

Monte Vista's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-11. As for Dublin, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.

Monte Vista won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, slipping by Dublin 54-53. Does Monte Vista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dublin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
